Overall planning of innovative wind tunnels for research and development.
Wind tunnels and thermodynamic test facilities are our passion. Together with SBI, we combine all planning disciplines for comprehensive planning under one roof, thus reducing the number of interfaces and the associated friction losses.
By taking over coordination, control, and monitoring tasks, we are your personal contact for the entire project.

Aeroacoustic Planning
Customized planning of state-of-the-art wind tunnels.
We develop wind tunnels of all kinds and have decades of experience in designing aerodynamic and aeroacoustic properties, air flow, nozzle configuration, and the measurement section. In particular, we distinguish ourselves by planning the quietest wind tunnels, thus setting standards in the industry. In the planning, we place particular emphasis on the specification of the main components, including the traverse system, the Model Motion System, as well as heat exchangers and fans.
Wind Tunnel Services
Our analysis includes overall planning, workflow analysis, modernisation and upgrading, development of digital wind tunnels, commissioning and calibration, as well as measurement and testing of wind tunnels.
Our maintenance management and creation of safety concepts demonstrate our focus on your operational safety. In addition, based on our extensive knowledge from wind tunnel projects around the world, we can evaluate, optimise, or compare your wind tunnel using state-of-the-art technology. We also support you with the CE marking of your systems, as consultants or by conducting the certification ourselves.
Numerical Fluid Simulation (CFD)
Numerical flow simulation for the development, optimization and quality assurance of your products.
Our experts in numerical fluid simulation offer several options for illustrating physical processes (software package from Ansys Fluent and CFX). The focus of the simulations is on verifying and validating the planning results during the design phase and optimizing existing approaches.
For products and components that are surrounded by or flowed through with air, gas, or liquids, for example, the flow losses can be derived as a direct measure of efficiency. In addition to creating simulations, we offer additional support and advice for your product development process through our experienced engineering team, including the validation of results with our own wind tunnel model.
Researches in our Wind Tunnel Model
Carrying out aerodynamic tests in our in-house wind tunnel.
Our wind tunnel is ideal for aerodynamic developments, including the investigation of the flow around and through various bodies. We can perform precise analyses of pressure and velocity distribution, as well as wake investigations and boundary layer influences.
In addition, our wind tunnel enables specialized investigations such as infrasound and vibration analyses, drag measurements, and wind load studies. Another important area is the validation of CFD simulations, whereby our facility can also be used for the calibration of probes and sensors. We also offer testing procedures in accordance with specific customer requirements and support and advise our customers throughout the entire product development process.
Advanced Air Mobility & Vertiport-Services
We provide comprehensive testing, simulation and planning services for eVTOL aircraft, unmanned aerial systems and landing infrastructure such as vertiports and hives.
WBI supports the development, testing and certification of eVTOLs (electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing aircraft), drones and UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems), as well as urban air mobility infrastructure through an integrated service portfolio. This combines physical testing, digital simulation and multidisciplinary planning services from a single source.
For technical development and certification, our services include wind tunnel and climate chamber planning, Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) system planning for real-time testing of control units and sensors, as well as testing within the WBI model wind tunnel. In addition, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and noise simulation support the optimization of design, performance and certification processes.
Within vertiport and hive infrastructure planning, we support projects from feasibility studies through to regulatory approval. This includes site assessments, noise-optimized flight path planning, permitting support, and the technical planning of buildings, charging infrastructure and energy systems.
