Assembly planning while using the 3D model

The 3D model is the central tool in the BIM process - we already mentioned that in the last post.

But how important is the 3D model in assembly planning and its coordination with the suppliers?

The high technical complexity and number of different trades requires constant communication between the individual project participants. The implementation via 3D model facilitates the coordination enormously.

The coordination and check of the assembly planning takes place in regular coordination meetings based on the overall 3D model. All suppliers involved present the specialist model of their contracted trade, after that we check this using the 3D model.

Approval takes place digitally based on the 3D model and makes it possible to do it without any printing of drawings. At the same time, we meet our demand for sustainability and digitalization.

While in project phases the design was still product-neutral, now the used products are provided in the 3D model and supplemented with attributes. These attributes serve as interfaces to other BIM use cases, such as facility management.

The assembly planning based on the coordinated 3D model therefore builds the basis for the following step - the smooth and collision-free realization of the building.
